Five reasons why Montville is perfect for a relaxing getaway

1. Get back to nature

Montville is surrounded by national parks so it’s easy to take a walk in the forest. The Kondalilla Falls trail gives you the added bonus of a cool deep freshwater swimming pool. Other options include the Baroon Lookout Walk, two trails at Mapleton Falls and Mary Cairncross Park which has wide trails that are pram and wheelchair friendly.

2. Time for a coffee

Coffee and cake …. if you couldn’t think of a better way to punctuate the day, you’ll be glad to know that Montville is blessed with an abundance of good cafes. Here’s a short-list of our favourites.

Elements of Montville on Kondalilla Falls Road has some of the best cakes on the range and the friendliest welcome.

Little May Espresso on Montville’s Main Street has excellent service and an interesting menu.

Waffle-On Café specialises in waffles, sensational Dutch apple cake, parfaits, Belgian fries with mayo and hotdogs made with Dutch and German sausages; all served with a smile in a little courtyard café near the IGA in Montville’s Main Street.

Secrets Café is just down the hill from our cottages at Montville Grove. It’s an open-air café in the tree-tops looking onto Lake Baroon. It’s very popular so advance bookings are recommended for lunch on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

For a great view, The Edge Café at the Mayfield Centre is at the top of the Main Street.

Lazy Rabbit Cafe is a Japanese fusion café on Flaxton Drive, Flaxton with fabulous sushi.

3. Restaurants

Montville Cafe•Bar•Grill on Montville’s Main Street. Offers a free courtesy pick-up service

Wild Rocket @ Misty’s is a licensed bistro with its own microbrewery on Main Street, Montville and a courtesy pickup service.

Altitude offers Modern Australian cuisine at 94 Main Street, Montville with a courtesy pick-up service for dinner guests

Flame Hill Vineyard is open for lunch and Sunday brunch with a paddock-to-plate philosophy and best of all, you can walk there if you stay at Montville Grove.

The Long Apron at Spicers Clovelly Estate specialises in high-end degustation dining. Forward bookings are essential.

Gypsy’s Table has an eclectic menu. The Spanner Crab fondue is delicious and there’s usually a game special.  You’ll find the Gypsy at 130 Main Street Montville.

Bella Cucina offers home-style Italian fare at 182 Main Street, Montville.

At Montville Pizzeria, dine on the deck and enjoy your pizza while it’s hot and crispy. 202 Main Street, Montville

Flaxton Gardens  is open lunch  every day and dinner from Thursday to Monday.

4. Art galleries in Montville and Maleny

Take a stroll through a gallery for some artistic inspiration.

Illume Creations specialises in exquisite glass art and is in the Mayfield Centre at the top of Montville’s Main Street.

Montville Art Gallery has a variety of art styles on display in a charming old Queenslander on Main St, Montville

Western Desert Art Movement brings the colours of the desert and mesmerising patterns of indigenous art to your living room wall. Tucked behind the water wheel on Montville’s Main Street.

Art on Cairncross‎ is located on the corner of the Landsborough-Maleny Road and Panorama Place at Maleny.

Lift ‎is on the Maleny-Montville Road with a combination of art, natural healing and music, along with some delicious cheescakes in the cafe.

5. Wineries and micro-breweries

Nothing like a glass of wine in the middle of the day to remind yourself that you’re having a little holiday.

Flame Hill Vineyard is just up the road from Montville Grove so you can walk up for a tasting.

Wild Rocket at Misty’s has its own little microbrewery in Montville, even growing some of their own hops.

Montville Cellar Door is at the bottom of Montville’s Main Street, next to Montville Pizza.

Brouhaha Microbrewery and restaurant is at the top of Coral Street in Maleny.

Maleny Mountain Wines. 787 Landsborough Maleny Rd, Maleny.

Mason Wines. Cellar door and wine tasting. 184 Main Street, Montville.

Castle Glen liqueurs and liqueur fudge. 171 Main Street, Montville.
