Queensland honeymoon ideas and packages

It’s a big job to organise a wedding so your honeymoon should be easy. You probably also want your honeymoon to be unique and full of unforgettable experiences.

And who wants to be spending precious time in airport terminals when you could be taking a walk in a rainforest or relaxing with a massage.

If you’re searching for Queensland honeymoon ideas, the Sunshine Coast Hinterland is a perfect honeymoon destination with secluded cottages, restaurants, cafes, walking trails, waterfall pools, wineries, day spas and galleries.

Then there are Eumundi Market, Australia Zoo and the Sunshine Coast beaches. So we’ve created our own Sunshine Coast honeymoon guide to give you a few ideas for a honeymoon you’ll always remember.

Start with your dream honeymoon cottage

Our cottages at Montville Grove set the scene for a romantic honeymoon. Relax in the spa or on the deck with a glass of wine and the rainforest birds for background music. If it’s cold, light the fire and curl up with a DVD. Doesn’t that sound perfect for a honeymoon?

A relaxing massage

A massage is the perfect start to your honeymoon. Just what you need to unwind after the mad whirl of the wedding day. Our Montville Grove honeymoon package includes a massage in your cottage or you could treat yourself to a pampering session at Casa Di Natura day spa.

Say cheese!

Montville is in a dairy region so we have some wonderful local cheeses. Order one of our cheese platters or take yourself on a cheese tour and be sure to taste the Wasabi Cheddar at Maleny Cheese and the Red Maling at Kenilworth Country Foods.

Call into Colin James Fine Foods in Maleny for a range of Australian and European cheeses including the newest cheesemaker on the block, Woombye Cheese. Maleny and Montville IGA stores stock a good range of local cheeses and if you see anything from Cedar Street Cheeserie, grab it because you’ll be in for a treat.

Dining out

Who wants to spend their honeymoon cooking? With everything from a five-star degustation to fish and chips under the stars, you have so many choices that we’ve created our own restaurant guide. Within a five-minute drive from your cottage, you’ll find Montville Cafe•Bar•Grill,  Wild Rocket @ Misty’s, The Gypsy’s Table, Flame Hill Vineyard and The Long Apron. And here’s our Montville-Maleny Restaurant Guide.

Shopping for fun

Someone’s sure to give you money as a wedding gift. Forget Harvey Norman! Spend it on something fabulous like a piece of art like handblown glass at Illume Creations in Montville or a painting from a local gallery. Click here for more on the Sunshine Coast Hinterland Art Gallery Trail.

A midweek day trip

By Wednesday, you’ll be ready to explore. How about a morning at Eumundi Market, followed by lunch and a swim at Noosa or a stop at the Ginger Factory at Yandina on your way home for all sorts of ginger delights.

Talk to the animals and take a wombat for a walk at Australia Zoo, just 30 minutes drive from Montville Grove. If you’re an extreme animal lover, check out the Australia Zoo website for options on getting close and personal with the animals.

Or you could swim with the seals at Underwater World at Mooloolabah, saddle up for a canter through the hills in the Mooloolah Valley or go riding on the beach with Equathon at Noosa.

If that all sounds too much, how about a few hours at the secluded Casa Di Natura day spa, nestled in a valley behind Flaxton with a magnesium pool, outdoor spa, massage rooms and every therapy you could think of.

Wine tasting around Montville

Nothing says “holiday” quite like wine tasting.   Flame Hill Vineyard is just up the road from our cottages and open from Thursday through to Monday for tasting, cellar door sales and lunch. It’s close enough to walk.

Maleny Mountain Wines are open every day and so are the Mason Wines cellar door and Castle Glen Liqueurs cellar door in Montville’s Main Street.

Take a walk in the rainforest

Mary Cairncross Park is a rainforest reserve with easy walking trails, a picnic area and a fantastic view of the Glass House Mountains. Or take yourself on a rainforest walk at Kondalilla Falls and have a swim in the pristine waterfall pool.
